33 schools re-functioning in Orakzai

The political administration has re-functioned 33 government schools by providing 172 makeshift tents in Orakzai Agency. This initiative was aimed at minimising disruption in children’s education due to militancy in the area. Most of these government schools were burnt and destroyed by militants in Lower and Central Orakzai Agency, which affected studies of thousands of male and female students. To restore the education process in the area, the political administration provided 172 large tents to 33 damaged schools across the Agency. With this intervention, future of thousands of local students will be saved. Similarly, authorities also provided ten tents to four Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Civil Dispensaries (CDs) in the agency, allowing them to continue with their paramedic’s activities.
The political agent of Orakzai Agency Riaz Khan Masood along with other officials visited some of the tented schools in Bezoti, Jalaka Mela and Chaman Jana and expressed satisfaction over the education process in the tented classrooms.
While talking to students and teachers, the political agent said the government was committed to providing quality education in conflict-hit areas. He emphasised students to primarily focus on their studies. The political administration will provide school uniform and bags to talented students of the best tented schools, he added. Students, teachers and tribal elders thanked the government and welcomed its initiative to supply tents to schools. They said this was evidence of the government’s commitment to make education accessible for tribal children.
