The Ministry of Housing and Works has sought help from Islamabad Police to retrieve its vehicle from the former Minister of State Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq Anis. In a letter addressed to the Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP), a copy of which is available with Pakistan Today, the ministry requested the Islamabad police to play its role in recovering the ministry’s vehicle from the ‘illegal’ custody of PPP MNA Tariq Anis. The official double cabin was given to Tariq Anis during his tenure as state minister.

The Ministry of Housing also requested the Election Commission secretary to direct the MNA to return the vehicle. In addition, the minister has been asked to pay rent of Rs 828,000 for unauthorised use of vehicles. “It is requested that rent of Rs 828,000 for use of two official ministry vehicles i.e. toyota corolla GLI and a toyota double cabin may kindly be deposited in the federal government’s treasury,” said the letter.

When contacted, Tariq Anis confirmed Pakistan Today that he was still using the official double cabin. “My security squad is using the double cabin as I am facing death threats,” he said. However, he denied owing any money against use of these vehicles.
