LDA orders inquiry against corrupt officials

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has ordered an inquiry against Chief Engineer Abdul Rab, four directors and other officials on charges of alleged complicity in kickbacks, financial irregularities and corruption in various development works. LDA Director General (DG) Abdul Jabbar Shaheen ordered the probe on recommendations of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT). LDA Additional DG (Headquarters) Hafiz Ahsan Ul Haq has been deputed as inquiry officer in the case.
The inquiry is being taken under the Public Interest Disclosure Act and the inquiry officer has been ordered to send a fact-finding report with his recommendations to LDA DG in two months. The accused officials included LDA Chief Engineer Abdul Rab and officials Malik Muhammad Mushtaq, Mian Muhamamd Ijaz, Muhammad Saeed Aktar, Ijaz Kosar, Rashid Naeem, Zafar Iqbal, Kashif Durrani, Zafar Naeem, Shabir Baloch, Ghulam Nabi, Ahsan Elahi, Sheikh Ishtiaq and Muhammad Safdar. Under the order, all of them have been given one-week’s time to submit explanations in their defence before the inquiry officer.
