Apropos to the letter by Dr Kapadia and Malik on the detestable and shameful act of a serving Major who was instrumental in the illegal confinement of a lady lecturer at Islamabad Airport Police Station.
Can somebody comprehend the state of mind of this lady who had to face this humiliation just because a man not worthy of wearing a uniform thought it proper to behave in a manner unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman? Islamic history is rich with traditions that trained military men would not hesitate to lay down their lives to defend the honour and dignity of their womenfolk.
The fact that this cowardly behaviour of a Major reflects poorly on the men and women of our forces should come as a rude shock to those who command our forces and the political leadership of this country. It is time that such cowards, who thought it fit to act in this shameful manner, must face disciplinary action, otherwise the image of our forces would be tainted. We cannot allow our armed forces to have in their ranks such men who have no sense of honour, ethics and morals.
