court awarded the capital punishment to three men in a case of murder and robbery on Friday. Additional District and Sessions Judge convicted three accused Ilyas, Sagheer Ahmed and Yousif alias Dadu after the prosecution proved the case successfully against them and also awarded seven years additional rigorous imprisonment to each of the accused and Rs 100,000 as diyat (fine). According to the prosecution, Ilyas, working as a cook in Dr Ajlal Babar’s house, along with his accomplices had stolen an amount of Rs 1.1 million among other valuables from the house, in the remits of Darakhshan Police on March 4, 2001.
Moreover, in order to misguide the owner of the house and police, the accused also murdered an innocent boy named Sajjad Nawaz, who was passing through the street, and later torched his body inside the house. On the next day, the police arrested the main accused and his aides while recovering from them the amount and other items stolen from the home. After completing the investigation, the case was filed in the court.
MAN GETS 40 YEARS: A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison in a double murder case on Friday. The Additional District and Sessions Court found Nisar Qureshi guilty of killing his wife and three-year-old daughter nine years ago. Judge Abdullah Channa pronounced the verdict after hearing the counsels of both parties. According to the prosecution, the accused had slaughtered his wife and daughter on April 19, 2002 at their house in Model Colony. The accused suspected his wife of having had an illicit relationship with another man, the prosecution added. A case was registered at the Model Colony Police Station and the accused was arrested the same day.
