IED explosion kills woman, her child

Two people – a woman and her child were killed and two policemen injured when a high-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on main G T Road at Jehangira town of Nowshera district on Thursday.
Police said some unknown militants had planted an IED on main G T Road at Jehangira that detonated when a police mobile vehicle moved into its range. The explosion, however, killed two passers-by including a woman and her child. Two policemen, boarding the vehicle, were also injured. The vehicle was damaged.
The officials said that target of the explosion was the police vehicle. Recently, there has been seen a surge in the terrorist attacks in Nowshehra district, the second home of militants after Swat and adjoining tribal region. Meanwhile, three people were injured on Thursday when some militants attacked the local administration office at Jalozai refugees’ camp with hand grenades. Those wounded in the terrorists’ attack included internally displaced people from Bajaur and Mohmand Agency. Since the repatriation of IDPs from Jalozai is in progress these days, motive behind Thursday’s act of violence could be scaring the same.
