Two small ships handed over to Pak Navy

The Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) handed over two small tankers-cum-utility ships to the Pakistan Navy on Monday. The ships, built at the KSEW, are 47m long with 1,600 tons displacement. The ships are equipped with steer-able rudder propellers along with bow thrusters for controlled positioning, navigation and communication. The vessels will be used by Pakistan Navy for logistic support to coastal stations, assistance of navy fleet for marine operations at sea including torpedo recovery, mine laying, search operations and rescue activities. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Abbas Raza said that the navy will continue supporting the Karachi Shipyard as part of its policies of self-reliance. KSEW MD Commodore Nasir Iqbal Akbar highlighted the future projects of the shipyard.
