A 12-year-old boy and 35-year-old man were burnt to death while another received serious injuries when a fire erupted in an automobile shop located in Ghallo village in Bata Pur police area on Wednesday.
The two deceased were identified as Shazaib (13) and Asif (35) while injured man was identified as Bhola. According to the police, fire broke out in Bhola’s spare parts shop when a burning candle fell on an oil drum. Flames engulfed the shop within minutes, reducing valuables worth hundreds of rupees to ashes. Shahzaib died instantly owing to his injuries while local residents rushed Bhola and Asif to Ghurki Hospital where Asif also succumbed to his injuries while doctors stated Bhola to be in critical condition.
Police handed over the bodies to their heirs after completing legalities. Station House Officer of Batapur Police Station Amir Iqbal said it was an accident.
