Democracy is such a plant which needs appropriate nourishment to strengthen its roots; only then it can give ripe fruit. Given the geo-strategic conditions of Pakistan, frail inherited system of governance and lack of education, what could be expected of democracy with the way martial laws have tarnished our polity. The question is what system these critics would suggest.
The need of the hour is to let the wheel of democracy rotate – let this plant deepen its roots so with passage of time, the bushes would automatically be removed and democracy would begin giving its fruits.
