It has recently been admitted by the officials of Sindh Police that 50 percent of the police stations in the metropolis of Karcahi are built on encroached lands. This is a clear evidence of the neglect, carried out by all incumbent administrations, towards the police. It is surprising that the no government has tried to facilitate police in even providing them with the required land through legal methods for police stations. This has inevitably made the police violators of the same law they claim to uphold. Under the prevalent situation it cannot be expected from the police to function at their top capacity. The government will have to carry out reforms and provide greater assistance in order for this institution to efficiently serve the public.

Pakistan is a country where protests have become a common sight. Whether it’s the shortage of electricity or any other problem, people have resorted to protests to get their grievances answered.
The role of police during protests remains vital. It is not just to keep the protesting people under control but considering the present situation of the country, it is also important to avoid any untoward incident from happening. However, police sometimes uses extra force and even charges on peaceful protesters. This practice is condemnable and must not be allowed. Unless the situation gets worse, the use of force must not be allowed.
