Taliban-associated Al-Mukhtar group involved in Rummy Club blast’

A Taliban-associated group known as ‘Al-Mukhtar’ has been traced to be involved in the April 21 bomb blast at a club in the Ghas Mandi area, said Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Leghari while addressing a press conference on Monday. Leghari said the group has emerged as a new faction involved in terrorist activities in the city and is the prime suspect in the blast which killed at least 19 persons and injured more than 45. He said the Crime Investigation Department police arrested Mustafa Rehman Orakzai alias Yaqoob Commando, son of Saeed Rehman Orakzai, from Sohrab Goth and recovered explosives, rockets, hand grenades and a TT pistol from his possession. The member of the Al-Mukhtar Group have been trained in the Waziristan region and are involved in many terrorist activities, he added. The provincial police chief further added that that five alleged target killers identified as Liaquat Bangash, Faizan, Azeem, Liaquat Yousufzai and Arshad Khan were also arrested on Monday, adding that they were allegedly involved in murdering more than 100 people.
