QUETTA – The Balochistan chapter of Pakistan Medical Association Wednesday threatened that all the doctors working at government-run hospitals would tender their resignations in protest over the abduction and murder of their colleague Dr. Mumtaz Haider. They however said that final decision in this raged would be taken by the PMA’s academic council meeting being held on April 22. Citing poor security for doctors, the PMA members said they felt insecure while performing their duty. The meeting of PMA Balochistan was presided over by its provincial president Dr Sultan Tareen here on Wednesday.
There was full consensus among the participants that the provincial government had failed to provide protection the general public and particularly the doctors. They decried the fact that Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch and Dr Akbar Marri were still missing. The meeting strongly condemned the abduction and killing of Dr Mumtaz Haider who was abducted for ransom on March 28 last and later killed on Tuesday (April 19).
