Where we stand

We live in a world now referred to as global village because of the fact that a person sitting thousands of miles away can be in contact with the other person instantly. Values, ethics, morals even religions take new shapes. But many cling onto their old values. Todays world is passing through a harsh time. An entire set of people of different origins are following the cultures of other people whom they have never in their lives ever met. Yet they adopt the things that were never meant to be for them.

In such cases people tend to get confused, they completely forget what they were and what they are becoming, or what they want to become. Human have the tendency to change with time, they cannot remain static.

New ideas replace the old ones; new technologies replace the obsolete ones. Some people call it progress, some modern enlightenment and others call it many other things.

What happened to be Pakistani, buy Pakistani thinking; its out of the window for sure, but where did things go wrong? Media is a service to society but they sure are far from providing excellent services.

A Dubai-based Pakistani channel bought the rights of a cartoon channel for children. Guess what? They were all dubbed in Hindi language. Now children watch those channels with great interest and are better in Hindi pronunciation than Urdus.

The point is to educate people what is going on with kids of this age. Teenagers are a bit responsible but are rather busy in making boyfriends and girlfriends, wearing trendy shirts and tops, talking about Pakistan and a revolution that will come peacefully and will save them from the tyrannies of the current and future governments using Facebook.

My generation must know this, if Pakistan was rewarded to us by Allah for the sacrifices we made to achieve this, and then Allah can take it in a blink of an eye if we discontinued fulfilling the vows we made to God.
