Education is generally seen as the foundation of society which brings economic wealth, social prosperity and political stability. But here in Pakistan, it seems as if the government is overshadowing its responsibility to promote education in Pakistan.

Most of the educationists have completely condemned the decision of the government to devolve Higher Education Commission to provinces. Our allies are now no more interested in investing money in the education sector of Pakistan; one of the most vulnerable sector which is in ignorance during this government.

During the past decades Pakistani universities have become more concerned in the terms of economic development. Many public and private universities in Pakistan have made significant contribution to economic development efforts. Its crucial to note that while higher educational institutions have for the most part always been continuous at some levels to economic development efforts.

While it is not so easy to identify a single factor that leads a country to become developed, it is undeniable that higher education has its importance as it leaves long-term positive outcomes. But unfortunately, the decision taken by government is microscopic. We will barely see improvement and effective outcomes at higher level, if the government will not take their decision back.

Over the past several years, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has funded thousands of scholarships and fellowships for Pakistanis to do PhD and Post-Doctoral work both at home and abroad.

Government must take their decision back else our countrys youth will be in stagnant condition in the coming years.
