HEC’s demise

It seems some cannot digest their fame and want to be rid of it as soon as they had achieved it. The PPP governments decision to devolve the HEC is a real example in this respect.

HEC was a great achievement. Had the HEC, under its honest and upright chairman, Dr Javaid Leghari, not dug up fake degrees of the politicians, the government wouldnt have thought of undoing it. Since its inception, HEC has played an exceptionally positive role in promoting research and higher education the two areas the country was lacking in. Since most of the politicians are semi-literate, they do not perhaps understand the importance of education.
