Sometime back work was started on building Kalma Chowk flyover with great zeal. Heavy machinery was moved to the site and pits dug up on the road to erect pylons for the flyover. However, since a court stay order has been issued the work in progress has been stopped creating a mess at the site with machinery lying idle and workers laid off. The flyover was to serve for reducing the long traffic jams on Ferozepur Road crossing being a major artery of traffic in Lahore.
The project is of public interest importance and it would have been better if the court would not have issued a stay order that has created a miserable condition for road users.
The work has been interrupted in midstream and it is urged that an early decision be made by the court to allow for continuation of a public work that has become necessary for Lahorites commuting on the road.
