Pak-US relations

The latest US report is a new blow to the strained ties between the two countries. Both the countries, especially Pakistan, play a vital role in the war against domestic insurgency. The troubled relations continue to lurch from crisis to crisis as a report is presented in the Congress says that Pakistan needs to do more.

The recent report released by the White House has criticized the policy of Pakistan, of having no clear plan to tackle militancy. While many have linked this criticism to strained ties between the two countries, we should also look at this through a constructive perspective. Instead of just outrightly rejecting it, our policy makers can look at the areas which have been highlighted with a neutral perspective and evaluate the policy if it is lacking. This way we might be able to rectify any drawbacks in our plans and prevent the spread of terrorism in the country.

I urge the authorities of both the countries to work towards a way where citizens can get rid of terrorism and make Pakistan a safe place. Furthermore, strain in the Pak-US relation will benefit none but the terrorist organisations.
