The cleric of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz has filed an application in the Islamabad High Court demanding the withdrawal of a case registered against him in 2007.
He was accused of distributing pamphlets outside the mosque that contained prohibited material. It was a clear violation of section 144, which was imposed at that time. It is a sad reality that distribution of literature and pamphlets outside mosques has become a norm in Pakistan. Apart from hate speech, these reading materials are purposely designed to brainwash youth to take up arms and wage Jihad against the state. The government along with the law enforcers must put this issue on high priority, so that dissemination of this hate-filled literature can be stopped.
