The people of Punjab, in particular those living in Lahore, acknowledge the development and construction of roads, bridges and underpasses. They share the anxiety of the CM when he dashes to London to visit his ailing elder brother, undergoing medical treatment there. However, what is annoying to them is that does their CM, his team and an arrogant bureaucracy working under him share the anxiety of those poor citizens whose near and dear ones were denied medical attention.

The young doctors strike has been called off, but this matter could have been resolved earlier if arrogance and ego had not created obstructions. People expect the elected political leaders to behave in a more responsible manner.

The argument extended by PML(N) parliamentarians on various channels that doctors working in state owned hospitals and clinics in other provinces get even lesser pay packages does not hold. If feudals dominating political power are denying these doctors of their rightful emoluments in Sindh, KP or Balochistan, it does not justify Punjab to do the same. When Punjab could take a lead in giving us a well-paid Motorway Police, it should take a lead in promoting highly qualified doctors to get better packages comparable to that paid in India.

If Danish Schools can be built and position holders given encouragement in Punjab, what prevents this administration to do justice to professionals in sciences? Moreover, let the Punjab Assembly take a lead and pass a resolution calling upon the federal government to restore and maintain HEC instead of disbanding it.
