Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir has criticised the judgement of Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the case of Chairman NAB and the Parliamentary Committees role in judges appointment by dubbing the actions of the Apex Court as judicial dictatorship and wayward (Pakistan Today of 30-03-2011). Perhaps, her use of the word wayward is not justified.
The judiciary has been put on the pedestal of independence after many sacrifices and it does not behove the President of SCBA to use such language for the highest court in the land.
Her statement leaves a bad taste in the mouth of people who tend to support the complete independence of judiciary in the interest of Pakistan.
