The metropolitan city of Karachi has once again been plagued by the hoard of killers who have taken around scores of in the past many days.
The target killers, as they are called in the media, are no less than serial killers who go about killing people every now and then to satisfy their thirst for human blood. We see a number of people dying in a day or two every couple of months by the so called target killers who come out kill people and go back in their hibernation till the next round.
The sensationalism that has grasped our news channels has made us so used to seeing the red flash on TVs that we have become insensitive. Our way of looking at things has been so distorted that even with statistics as high as we have today we still throng places like Boat Basin and other restaurants. The fear of something happening has reached such levels that the fear has subsided in our brains.
We, as a nation, need to change our way of thinking. We need to accept the facts of people losing their lives with a sense of grief and a sense of acknowledgement for their sacrifice. We need to stand up defeating the odds and represent the true image of Pakistan, the image on which Pakistan was actually based on.
We need to show to the whole world that good things like education, peace and prosperity does indeed exist in Pakistan and that incidents like these will eventually be eliminated.
