ISLAMABAD – Bishop Michael of Fatima Jinnah Church, Islamabad said on Thursday that the desecration of the Holy Quran by self-styled evangelical priest Terry Jones not only hurt the feelings of Muslims, but of Christians as well. The bishop told a press conference here at the National Press Club that Christian teachings strongly condemned desecration of God’s scriptures.
He claimed that before the inception of Pakistan and in the early days, Muslims and Christians lived together peacefully and happily and neither hurt the religious sentiments of the other. He said that the “regrettable incident” was a ploy to cause discord and disharmony between the two religions. He said that Christians believed in equality, love and peace, therefore, the shameful act of Terry Jones had hurt the Christians in Pakistan.
