MINGAWARA – The security forces killed at least five militants when they were attempting to escape in the mountainous area of Durushkhela in Matta, Swat, on the night between Sunday and Monday. According to the officials, the security forces raided the locality to recover arms and ammunition, as revealed by the already arrested militants, who had dumped the consignment in early 2009.
However, the militants positioned at the site tried to flee but the security forces shot dead all of them. They belonged to Durushkhela and Ashari areas of Matta and are identified as Aziz-ur-Rehman, Zarawar, Islam Uddin and Attaullah, whose dead bodies were handed over to the relatives. Meanwhile, the bomb disposal squad defused a hand grenade found in the rubbles of a house at Nishat Chowk in Mingawara.
