The release of Raymond-II

The Federal/Provincial Govts and some other players have taken the expected course of action by facilitating the sudden release of Raymond Davis under extreme US pressure. Did we gain anything apart from the release of blocked US aid ? But we have to realise that this gain has come at a cost. Is it that our rulers could not bear the pressure?

There are many questions which will remain un-answered. Is the government not answerable to the masses and should they always succumb to pressures contrary to the peoples’ wishes. After a few days of public protests, the issue will become a part of our history which is already full of intrigues.

There were some people who wanted that the SC should take suo moto notice. If they do so, would the Govt get the decision reversed given that Raymond Davis is already out of Pakistan? Many an order of the SC have been flouted or delayed.

Can we as Pakistanis ever think of becoming a sovereign country?

We must consider what are the impediments in this behalf; the rulers or the friendly opposition? Are they all playing Noora Kushti? As per Imran Khan “the match was fixed” by the federal and provincial governments but in a hasty manner.
