ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani told Information Technology Secretary Saeed Ahmed Khan in a high-level meeting at PM House on Thursday to immediately develop a project to educate students throughout the country in information technology, with particular focus on the flood-affected and underdeveloped areas.
Gilani said the project would bring in employment opportunities for the youth and help alleviate poverty in the country. He told the secretary to work out modalities of the project within a week. He also told the secretary to ensure implementation of his earlier announcements regarding the establishment of IT institutes in underdeveloped areas of the country.
The PM also told the secretary to encourage talented students from such areas through scholarships. Earlier, the IT secretary briefed the PM on the progress on his announcement for the establishment of IT institutes and universities in various underdeveloped areas.
He told Prime Minister Gilani details of the “PM ICT Graduate Programme” which was launched in 2008.
