A private TV channel is telecasting a programme that says that 45% of the total votes were bogus votes in the 2008 elections as per NADRA record.
This is a preposterous situation throwing down in a tailspin the so called mandate of our large political parties. It appears we are being ruled by false representatives of people. It is said if the first brick of a building is laid in a crooked way the entire building would be crooked even if it reaches the sky.
What is required is that the ruling parties must shed their spurious mandate and call for fresh elections as per certified lists of votes by NADRA.
The apex court ought to hold the fresh elections in an above board and fool proof system under its oversight. There is no other possible way to assure genuine elections in the country to pave the way for a genuine democracy.
