The politics of reconciliation that was being practiced by our mainstream parties had given much-needed stability to a nascent and prone-to-teetering political system. While opposition racketeering is part of the larger game of politics, it may prove very harmful for our system which has not completely found its foothold as yet.
Both the PPP and PML(N) have violated the spirit of the CoD. With the economic and security crises worsening by the minute, these politicians should display some maturity and not exacerbate the uncertainty by adding to the environment of political turmoil in the country.
It doesnt take a genius to figure out that Pakistan is facing extraordinarily tough times and these require national reconciliation and some consensus so that some headway can be made on the myriad of issues facing the country. I hope these parties can mend their ways and look at the bigger picture rather than squinting at corners for short-term gains.
