Disillusioned

It is very unfortunate that those institutions that we spend our money and trust most on have time and again proved that they are nothing but a burden on this poor nation.

Take a look at the topmost sacred institution and we will find that whether in the operations that it has conducted or the martial laws that it has imposed, there are many shameful and ignominious chapters in its history.

The other important institution is the judiciary. It is a state organ that is meant for interpretations of law and a strong check-and-balance on the executive and its governmental functionaries. Unfortunately, it has been declared as the sixth most corrupt institution in this country. From the doctrine of necessity to the judicial killing of Bhutto, the history of this institution is chequered at best.

NAB is also another institution that is merely a burden on the exchequer. It never grabs those people who are currently sitting in the government. They give special privileges to the corps deelite.

Even though these institutions have been supposedly changing for the better in recent times, no concrete results have come up. Do we have reason to be hopeful about these institutions?
