Six senators maintain luxurious assets abroad

ISLAMABAD – Six members of the Upper House have assets worth millions of rupees abroad, according to their statements of assets and liabilities submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
These senators include Federal Finance Minister Hafiz Sheikh, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Law Minister Babar Awan. Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh owns residential property in UAE worth 2.5 million Dirhams. He also maintains bank accounts in Dubai and America and his statement further reveals that the finance minister has Rs 50 million in Dubai’s Bank and Rs 2.5 million in a Washington-based bank.
Law Minister Babar Awan has property in Spain valued at Rs 15 million.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik owns a flat in London, valued around 2.5 million pounds. Similarly, Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash has his own a house in Ajman, UAE, valued at Rs 25 million. Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also has property outside Pakistan.
His assets details shows that he has a villa known as (Hajveri villa) in UAE worth almost 12 million UAE Dirhams. JUI-F Senator Azam Khan Swati, who is said to be richest after Gul Muhammad Khan and Ammar Ahmed Khan in the Senate, owns six properties worth over Rs 520 million in the US and has 16 million Dirhams in various properties in UAE.
PPP’s Gul Muhamamd Lot has nine properties abroad, including flats in London and Saudi Arabia and a villa in UAE.
