Karachi city is a place where thousands of people use public and private transport to get to their destination. The tri-motorcycle rikshaw, also known as the Qingqi rikshaw, is one of the new means of transportation in Karachi as it is convenient for the poor to travel in it. It is also harmful for the people. Karachi is already suffering from traffic problems and these rikshaws seem to be the final straw.
Recently a rikshaw bumped into my car while I was waiting for the signal to turn green. On asking, the driver told that neither he has license nor he has a proper break on his vehicle. It was shocking that the driver was not even trained and there was a possibility that he might not know the driving rules. It seems the people are not serious with their and others lives. I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to this matter to frame some rules and regulations for these rikshaws, their routes, and the scrutiny system for their drivers.
