On account of Womens Day, I attended a seminar at AKU, where a speaker named Abbas Husain talked about what the Quran says about gender equality. The way he interpreted verses from holy Quran was terrific.
I suppose these kinds of programs should be aired as well. The concept of society given by the Holy Prophet is one in which women are the supporters of men, not over them nor below them. That means both genders are equal in the eyes of Allah but unfortunately its opposite is happening in our society. Our Holy Prophet never treated anybody badly, even his enemies and what do we do? Abuse females, torture them, burn them, restrict them etc. Its high time we need to understand and respect women and this can only be achieved if the lower ends of the society are taught about it and women themselves start standing up for their rights.
