It is reported that the Sindh chief minister has objected to the opening of the Chashma-Jhelum link canal. My questions: Was the Tarbela dam built only for Sindh? Was the post-Tarbela increase of 25 percent in canal supplies only for Sindh? Does not Punjab have any share in it? And from where can Punjab get its share if not through the CJ & TP link canals?
Why do political leaders get away with making such irresponsible statements, time after time, without being checked? Statements which add to the distrust between the provinces. My question to the journalists is while they have an opinion on all that is happening in the country, while they do not hesitate to pull up errant politicians, while they feel they are the guardians of what is best for the country, why do they still hold back on issues which impact the survival of the country?
Should there not be more articles and write-ups putting forward the correct position on important issues like water distribution between the provinces?
