Narrow-minded people deprive women of rights, says Minhaj-ul-Quran

LAHORE – Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) women’s league organized a seminar on the International Women’s Day at the central secretariat of MQI on Monday. MQI women league secretary general advocate Sumaira Rafaqat said, “People with narrow mindset deprive women of their rights in the name of religion, which is violation of Islamic teachings.” She said Islam bestowed respect and sanctity on the women in every relationship. She urged the women to play their due role in educational, economic and social domains and emphasized a need of affirmative action on the part of the state. Central Naib Nazima Sajida Sadiq said, “Veil does not hinder progress, rather it is a source of confidence and strength.” She said women are faced with multiple issues and problems in the society that call for the government’s intervention. Ayesha Shabbir and Sadif also addressed the seminar.
