KARACHI – The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) on Sunday announced staging a countrywide protest on March 11 against the murder of its leader Maulana Ahmed Madni, who was targeted in New Karachi along with his son on Saturday night. Addressing a press conference, ASWJ Central Information Secretary and Karachi President Maulana Aurangzaib Farooqui said that a small group, with the support of foreign forces, was responsible for killing ASWJ activists. He said that the group was trying to destabilise the ASWJ and stop it from carrying out its mission. He termed the murder of Madni as the murder of the ASWJ.
He demanded the government to bring to book the elements responsible for Madni and his son’s murder. He warned staging protests for an indefinite period if the government failed to bring the culprits to task. FUNERAL: Madni and his son’s funeral prayers were offered by Maulana Alam Tariq at Jamia Masjid Sakhi Hassan, and they were laid to rest at the Sakhi Hassan graveyard. Abdul Sattar Edhi, Fazlur Rehman and Samiul Haq of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Idara Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Pakistan leaders, ASWJ activists and other religious leaders attended the funeral.
Maulana Mavia Azam, Maulana Tariq Azeem and Maulana Alam Tariq addressed the participants after the funeral, and termed Madni’s killing as a conspiracy against the ASWJ.
