Nine persons, including three police officers were killed and 36 others sustained injuries in a suicide attack near Spinkhawri Chowk on the Hungu bypass. The suicide bomber riding an explosives-laden vehicle hit a police mobile van.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed the responsibility for the suicide attack. This is an alarming sign for the nation, as it seems that the Taliban are once again active in the country and are carrying out successful suicide attacks all over the country. The government needs a different counter-terrorism strategy for the tribal areas, as the situation in that regard is quite sensitive. The locals are once again concerned with the law and order situation in the tribal belt.
