Crime and punishment-III

The brutal assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minority Affairs, is the second in this year, after Salmaan Taseer, who was Punjab Governor. The targeting of these individuals may seem to be due to their vocal opinions, on blasphemy law. But there is another aspect and which is that the terrorists want to cripple the state machinery by targeting its leading figures.

Islamabad is evidently not as safe as was being envisaged before these murders. It is imperative that the extremists have penetrated into this city and security should be further beefed up in the capital, to stop any further untoward incident.
