LAHORE – Abdul Majeed, 49, a resident of Ichra, was allegedly gunned down by Muhammad for Rs 25,000 in the Ichra police precincts on Friday. Police officials said Younis had refused to payoff the money he borrowed from Majeed. Majeed demanded his money from Younis but he refused resulting in a scuffle and an exchange of abuses. Younis took out his gun and shot Majeed twice and fled the scene. Majeed died instantly. Police shifted the body to the morgue and registered a case against Younis. Poisoned: A man was poisoned to death in the limits of the Shafiqabad Police here on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Raja Ali, a 60-year-man According to details, a man was lying unconsciously on the road. Passers-by spotted the body and informed police about it. Locals moved Ali to Mayo Hospital in an unconscious state where he was pronounced dead. Police officials speculated that a swindler fed Ali a poisonous substance which caused his death.
Police discovered nothing in his pockets. Licenscs: City Traffic Police have extended the date of license renewal and duplication from March 1 to 10 to provide sufficient time to motorists. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin, while addressing a special meeting at his office here on Friday, said that motorists were facing hurdles owing to various factors. “A one-window operation is successfully underway whereas citizens are enjoying the facilities being provided by the traffic police,” he added.
The CTO further said that traffic licences are being renewed within minutes so motorists are obliged to visit the traffic offices and obtain new licences. He said that learner permits were being issued to the candidates for 42 days after the specified time they are requested to appear for driving tests. “Capital City Traffic Police Education Units is busy imparting necessary lectures among the general public especially students and creating awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations,” he remarked. Syed Ahmed Mobin lauded the performance of senior traffic wardens and circle in-charges.
