Court adjourns hearing against former WAPDA chairman

LAHORE – An accountability court adjourned on Friday the hearing of a reference filed against former Water and Power Development Authority and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Lt General (r) Zahid Ali Akbar till March 11. Earlier, his son Yasir Ali filed an objection petition challenging the court orders regarding the attachment of properties owned by Zahid. The court will record arguments on said application on the next hearing date.
Double Shah case accused: An accountability court extended on Friday the physical remand of Haji Muhammad Bashir and Ch Shoukat Warriach till March 7. The accused are the agents of Syed Sibtul Hassan Shah Gillani alias “Double Shah” involved in the biggest financial scam in the history of Pakistan. The accused had invited the public to invest their money with them and get it double just in 75 days. In this way they collected Rs 9,091 million from 46,364 individuals. The court will resume the case on March 7.
