KARACHI – The two Pirs of Sindh – an urban area’s Altaf Hussain and a rural area’s Pir Pagara – have started speaking about army rule. One has been asking “patriot generals” to help bring about a ‘revolution’ and other is warning people that ‘a bloody revolution’ is in the offing in which almost all politics will be wiped out and there will be no general elections for 30 to 40 years. Political observers are not taking the statements of the two Pirs lightly.
They are considering their remarks as very “serious”, saying that the country’s system might be under threat. After the increase in oil prices, Hussain has given a three-day ultimatum to the government, saying that if the prices are not reversed, the party will decide its future course keeping in view the interests of the people. PPP leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who turned against his party’s leadership in recent times, is scheduled to meet Pagara today (Wednesday) at Kingri house.
