KARACHI – Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Mushir Alam on Saturday urged the district and sessions judges of the province’s 24 judicial districts to ensure that speedy justice is provided to the masses in accordance with the National Judicial Policy (NJP).
Presiding over a meeting held at SHC, the chief justice said that the NJP – initiated by the chief justice of Pakistan – is aimed at providing access to a quick and easy judicial system to the people. The SHC chief justice expressed concern over the delayed court proceedings in lower courts cases across the province.
The chief justice urged the district judges to accelerate the proceedings of their courts and make serious efforts to dispose of cases quickly for restoring the confidence of the people in the judicial system. The meeting was also attended by SHC judges Justice Maqbool Baqar, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed; SHC registrar Abdul Rasool Memon and judicial officials.
The chief justice said that judicial officers should monitor activities in courts and take immediate action if they detect any corruption or violation of the NJP. During the meeting, judicial officials informed the SHC chief justice about their problems, particularly about the shortage of courts, judges and basic facilities.
After listening to their issues, the chief justice ensured them that all initiatives would be taken to resolve their problems and fulfill their demands.
