KARACHI – The use of latest technology in the field of journalism is the need of the hour and photojournalism in Pakistan should be promoted in an effective manner, Sindh Government Media Coordinator Taj Haider said while talking to a delegation of Japanese photojournalists at his office.
The delegation included Yasuo Sakuma, Naoko Sakuma, Hasuka Sakuma, Mujeebur Rehman, Azmat Ataka, Jahangir Khan, Adeel Khan, Asif Rangoonwala and Ameen Rangoonwala.
“We can benefit from sharing our experiences and expressions. Pakistan has very good relations with Japan and Japanese photojournalists should project a softer image of Pakistan through their cameras,” Haider said as he welcomed the photojournalists.
He said that regular pictorial exhibitions of Japanese culture should be held in Pakistan so Pakistanis could understand the Japanese culture since relations need to be developed between both countries at the grassroots level.
He added that many investment opportunities exist in the energy sector of Pakistan, such as Thar Coal reservoirs, electricity turbine and grid stations, which could be fruitful for both countries. The Japanese delegation also discussed the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan, especially in Sindh.
While briefing the delegation on rehabilitation in the province, Haider said that the flood-hit citizens were being housed in 4,000 camps.
He said that restoration and rehabilitation is a great challenge for the government, but with collective efforts, Pakistanis would be able to overcome the problems.
He added that the basic necessities of life are being provided to the flood survivors, construction of houses is in progress, and farmers are being provided with seeds free of charge. The provincial government media coordinator also presented the members of the Japanese delegation with traditional ajrak at the end of the meeting.
