“When you start, you never stop. If you stop, you may never be able to start again.” History witnessed that when the people of any country raised their voices for democracy, the revolution took place in the world. Central Asia, Kosovo, France and the most recent Tunisia are the best examples, where the people demonstrated their hatred against dictatorship and stood against the autocracy with mutual ideology.
The revolution took place in Egypt and the democracy was revived after 30 years of dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak. He kept people under emergency law for three decades but finally stepped down. People, especially the youth of Egypt always wanted to express their abhorrence for Hosni, but no one ever stood against his authoritarian rule throughout his regime.
The enlightenment among the people of Egypt was initiated by a young man, who burnt himself in Tunis when he protested against the government, who confiscated his roadside vegetable stand and was humiliated by officials.
That step clarified the people of Egypt that in order to revive the democracy, they need to outburst and to raise their voice and to move ahead together for a revolution for the sake of the future of their country. A series of street demonstrations, rallies, and strikes against the government clearly showed that humans are not slaves; they have their freedom of expressions and no one can stop them to fight for their rights.
Finally the democracy won and the wild jubilation in Cairo took place. Now the people of Egypt can breathe with freedom, justice and can better utilise their talents without any political interference. The people in other countries such as Bahrain are also re-thinking and protesting to get freed from the chains.
Our country got independence because of Islamic Ideology, but the socio-economic and political situation in our country invites us to at least raise our voice for our rights and for the betterment of our country.
The time has come when all the youth must ask our leaders to end corruption and to work with selfless devotion for Pakistan. We must work hard to maintain democracy in our country and must save our country from the domination of Western powers.
