SIALKOT – The people of Pakistan and India, residing along both the sides of Sialkot Working Boundary, have jointly declared an over 100-year-old peepal tree as a friendship tree. This tree is located at Zero Point in Sucheetgarh here. A half of the tree is located in India and the rest in Pakistan.
This ancient tree is still providing shadow to the people of both the sides as families from the two sides often gather here with the high hopes of a durable peace between the two nuclear neighbors. On every Sunday, the people of Pakistan and India gather under the shadow of this tree and express their sentiments over friendship and peace between the two countries. They also exchange gifts and sweets.
FAHIM, MEHDI SHAH DUE in sialkot ON 27TH: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah and Federal Industries Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim will visit the district on February 27 (Sunday) on the invitation of Sialkot-based Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.
According to details, the G-B chief minister will inaugurate several socio-economic development and public welfare-oriented projects in several Bajwat villages falling in Constituency NA 111-Bajwat, along with Amin Fahim. They will also address a big public meeting at village Chaprar the same day. All the arrangements had been completed for this visit.
An official handout said a warm welcome would be accorded to GB CM Syed Mehdi Shah and Makhdoom Amin Fahim on their arrival in the district.
