ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan on Monday said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was violating the Charter of Democracy (CoD) by horse-trading in Punjab. He announced bringing the 19-point reforms agenda of the PPP Punjab’s parliamentary party in the committee, which is constituted for the implementation of PML-N’s 10-point agenda.
Babar was addressing a press conference in the federal capital during which he was accompanied by Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz. Both the leaders claimed that the PML-N was involved in horse-trading. “Everyone knows that it is impossible without the use of money,” they remarked.
Commenting on the deadline given by the PML-N, Awan said, “The PPP never give deadlines nor does it accept any,” adding that there was no deadline in politics and decisions could be taken by consultation but not through dictation. He reiterated that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would continue to follow reconciliation policy in the province.
Babar urged Punjab Chief Minister to fulfil promises regarding the 19-point agenda forwarded by the PPP Punjab and said his party had given the names of two provincial ministers, Tanveer Ashraf Kaira and Ashraf Sohna, for the implementation of the agenda.
“A single party cannot decide the entire country’s fate,” he remarked while urging all the political parties to work together for the betterment of the country. He said that Shahbaz Sharif’s yesterday’s statement would lead to reservations among the smaller provinces, which was not a good sign for the federation.
“We believe in politics of federation and reconciliation, and it is the basic reason for not leaving the provincial Government,” Babar maintained.
Riaz said they had had decided to present the issue in the committee at the federal level, as Shahbaz Sharif did not respond to the 19-point agenda.
