This is apropos the letter Pakistan: Need to control drug spread on Feb 6. The writer rightly glances over the spreading of drugs in the recent past across the country. Its clear that Pakistan is regarded as one of the topmost drug users, with nearly five million drug addict, according to the report by the International Narcotics Control Board.
The report shows the harsh side of Pakistan. Hundreds of people die annually across the country due to drugs. Illicit drugs do not just spread diseases but also cause death. However, the health ministry and other health care departments have failed to overcome the abysmal condition. Serious action needs to be taken to avert any devastating economic and social problems.
