ISLAMABAD – All Pakistan Paramedical Staff Federation on Tuesday said the paramedics working at hospitals in Islamabad would go on strike from February 17 against what they called government’s failure to revise their service structure. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the organisation said its members working at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital and a few other government-run hospitals would boycott their duties hence causing trouble for patients.
The paramedics based in Islamabad and Punjab have also been observing two-hour token strike daily Since February 8, demanding approval and implementation of their revised service structure. However, the paramedics have called off their strike in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces where their demands were accepted. “Our protest will continue till our demands are met,” APPSF General Secretary Muhammad Arshad Khan told Pakistan Today.
He said that there was only one-point agenda behind their strike that there had been ‘no concept of promotion’ in their present service structure. “Our demands are just and although the government agreed to implement reforms but since then there has been no action in this regard.”
