Why religious processions?

We have lost many innocent lives when a religious procession is attacked by some miscreant or a fanatic either as a suicide bomber or through a time bomb device. These processions are taken out on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH), Ashura or on any other religious leader’s call. I would like to ask religious scholars of all sects to let the public know where we can find in any religious book that we should come out in processions to fulfil our religious obligations.

On respective festive occasions, celebrations could be held at specified places rather than coming out on the roads thus inviting trouble from those who either oppose their school of thought or the militants who aim to create instability in the country. I would, therefore, request various sects to confine their activities to their respective worship places if it is not a religious obligation to come out in the open, thus exposing to unnecessary risks.
