The Chairman PIA, who also happens to be the Minister for Defence, has today once again stated that he was not aware of the deal “Record of Discussions” signed between PIA and Turkish Airlines by his MD, who has now been relieved of his post. This is very hard to believe. Even if we are to assume that he is stating the fact, it is very clear that he does not in that case qualify to be chairman of PIA because he had no control of the organisation.
In any other democratic system, the party would have asked him to quit. Unfortunately our political parties and their key players are devoid of any ethics and morality. They need to learn some lessons from the ferocious backlash of the Egyptian people. In spite of Mubarak’s support within the armed forces, he could not save himself from the wrath of the nation.
