ISLAMABAD – The activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Likeminded on Thursday staged a demonstration against the assault on its senior vice president, Syed Kabir Wasti, and demanded the arrest of the attackers. However, no prominent leader of the party took part in the rally to the utter disappointment of the participants.
The protesters assembled in front of the National Press Club and chanted slogans against the government for its failure to arrest those involved in the incident. They strongly condemned the attack on their leader and urged the police officials concerned to bring the offenders to the task so that any such act could be averted in future.
PML senior leader Kabir Wasti, his brother Saeed Wasti and their driver were thrashed by unidentified people last week in Islamabad. Earlier, the invitation received by the media stated that Nisar Mohammad Khan, Humayun Akhtar Khan, Kashmala Tariq, Muhammad Ayub Khan Khattak, Iqbal Dar, Faqir Hussain Bukhari, Ajab Gul Surani, Dr Tasneem-ul-Haq Hassni and other senior members of the party would demonstrate in front of the National Press Club against the government’s failure to apprehend the attackers, but none of them turned up.
