LAHORE – An urgent meeting of central executive committee (CEC) of Medical Lab Technologists Association of Pakistan (MLTAP) was called at the head office in Rawal Dam Colony, Islamabad. The meeting was presided over by central president of MLTAP Technologist Muhammad Ali Malik.
Other members of CEC of MLTAP including Azadar Gillani, Muntazir Naqvi, Tahir Naqqash, M. Arif, Raza Mohayyodin, Shahbaz Hussain in conjunction with student delegates of Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC), Rawalpindi including Mr. Wajahat, Hafiz Azhar, Umar Farooqi, Nadia Perveen and Hafiza Ansa also attended this meeting.
The Medical Lab Technologists (MLT) of RMC raised issues of their fee during the meeting. They said that though MLT classes in RMC are affiliated with University of Health Sciences, Lahore (UHS) like other Allied Health Sciences in Punjab, they are paying Rs 46,000 as their annual fee excluding accommodation charges, whereas in all other medical colleges of Punjab the annual fee of MLT students ranges between Rs 6,000 to 10,000 including accommodation charges.
The CEC of MLTAP strongly condemned this injustice to students of MLT in RMC. Collectively, they demanded from government to resolve this issue on urgent basis by reducing the annual fee of Medical Lab Technology students. They said that the fee should be fixed as Rs 6,000 like that in all other medical colleges of Punjab and the arrears should be refunded to students so that poor and deserving MLT students may focus on their studies with complete peace of mind.
